Meaningful Employment
Students must pay a daily fee to attend
Public School in Cambodia. Poor and
many middle class families can not
afford to send their children to public
school. Aogaah Foundation® provides
free education to impoverished
children so they will someday be able to
find meaningful employment.
Without the ability to read, write and
perform simple arithmetical
calculations, the most meaningful
occupation available to young people
may be to walk the streets selling birds.

No School - Jan 7: Victory over Genocide Day
Victory over Genocide
On January 7 of each year, the
Cambodia people pay tribute to the
Vietnamese and celebrate Victory over
Genocide. On this day in 1979, the
Vietnamese Armed Forces drove the
Khmer Rouge out of Phnom Penh.
During Pol Pot's reign of terror, 25
percent of the Cambodian population
were outright murdered or died of
disease and/or starvation.
The war to defeat Pol Pot and the
Khmer Rouge lasted ten years and is
know as Vietnam's Vietnam.
Cambodia's neighbor lost more
solders fighting the Khmer Rouge than
the United States lost fighting Vietnam.

Fifth Annual New Year Celebration
|
Each year, on the Sunday before January 1, the
staff of Village 15 - 16 School prepares and serves
a Traditional Khmer Holiday meal for all the
children. This year, the New Year party fell on
December 25th.
Teacher Rick buys the food and the Staff cook
the meal. No Aogaah Foundation funds are
used for the celebration.
